IT IS AGAINST THE LAW

Section 43 of the Public Highways Development Act provides that:

Anyperson who, without justification or excuse, obstructs or deposits any materialon a highway or road is guilty of an offence.

Anyperson convicted of an offense may also be ordered to forthwith remove anyobstructions or materials deposited on the highway or road.

DOG CONTROL:

The Village of Foremost would like to thank those dog owners who continue to keep their dogs from running at large within the Village of Foremost. However, we still continue to receive complaints regarding dogs that are running loose within the Village or causing a disturbance by excessive barking. Dogs running at large are a nuisance to other residents. They tear up garbage, damage and destroy property, and at times frighten children and adults. We have had many complaints about dog owners not cleaning up behind their dogs and leaving feces on sidewalks and yards, please be responsible and make sure to clean this up at all times.

Please continue to keep our Village a clean and pleasant place to live by making sure your dog is kept within the confines of your yard, unless it is otherwise restrained by a permitted leash held by a person and that leash is attached toa choke chain, collar or harness securely holding the dog.

Listed below are the yearly license fees required by the Village of Foremost, due January 1, of each year, please ensure your dog(s) are licensed.

1.         License for each altered Dog                                     $10.00

2.         License for each unaltered Dog                                 $15.00

Again, the Village of Foremost would appreciate your assistance in adhering to Bylaw No. 473, a copy of which may be viewed at the Village of Foremost office during regular office hours.

UPCOMING IRRIGATION SYSTEM START-UP:

Prior to the Irrigation System Start-up, please check all valves and standpipes for cracks and/or breaks, and arrange to have repairs done prior to system start-up in the spring. (These repairs are the responsibility of the homeowner).  Estimated date for start-up will be approximately April 15, 2026, weather permitting.

TRIMMING OF OBSTRUCTING TREES:

There are many trees and bushes which are obstructing the Village alleys, streets and sidewalks.  Overhanging branches obstruct pedestrians, equipment and/or vehicles, therefore, if yours are causing these issues, please have them trimmed back to property line to a height which allows for free passing without branch obstruction. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

REMINDER – SEWER SYSTEM

Due to past sewer problems, please do not dispose of egg shells, cooking grease, any form of oil or grease product, feminine hygiene products, condoms or baby wipes through the sewer system. As well, it has been found that overuse of liquid fabric softeners and powder laundry detergents cause build-up in sewer lines, so please keep this in mind when using these items.

There are to be NO oil products or sand dumped into shop floor drains or pits, and make sure these pits are cleaned of all mud and sand regularly.   Please be careful and vigilant of what is going down the sewer mainline at all times.

The Village of Foremost appreciates your co-operation with this issue in helping to keep our sewer lines clear and free of blockages and back-up’s.
