Foremost Airport & Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Range

An all-weather airport is conveniently located just two miles west of the Village, north of Highway 61. The airport features a paved and lighted runway, restrooms, and a first aid station. Aviation fuel and oil are also available for pilots.

Foremost is proud to host Canada’s first approved Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Range. It is one of only two non-military BVLOS training and development centers for UAS in North America, making Foremost a hub for advanced drone technology and innovation.

Highways & Connections

Foremost is well-connected by a network of highways, making travel to nearby communities and attractions both convenient and scenic.

  • Highway 61 – The Red Coat Trail:
    • East: Connects toward Orion and Manyberries, and to Twp Rd 62, a gravel route leading to Elkwater and Cypress Hills Provincial Park. It also links to Highway 887, where the stunning Red Rock Coulee can be found.
    • West: Leads to Lethbridge and connects to Highway 4.
  • Highway 879: Runs north to Highway 3, linking Foremost to Bow Island and Medicine Hat, and south toward Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park.

These routes make Foremost an ideal stop or base for exploring southern Alberta.
